ACOM 06 AT automatic antenna tuner 1.8-30 MHz and 6m can be used locally in the shack or remotely, up to 100 m, indoors. This reduces losses because it is not the antenna feed line that is tuned, but only the antenna and its relatively short feed line by the tuner itself. Control and power are completely via a coaxial cable, without the need for additional cables to the tuner. All Acom transistor power amplifiers are used for power supply and control, i.e. ACOM 1200S, ACOM 600S etc. The frequency range covers the entire shortwave band from 1.8 to 30 MHz and the 6m band from 50 to 54 MHz. Maximum powers of up to 1200 W are possible, depending on the adaptation of the antenna.

A maximum of four antennas can be connected to the tuner. The selection of the respective antenna is done manually via the control on the PA or automatically based on the frequency. All inputs are statically protected by double protection against nearby charges and lightning. The antenna connections can also be switched to "bypass" to be able to use an antenna directly, without a tuner. The tuning process of the ACOM 06AT tuner is automatic and transparent to the user. It takes a maximum of 5 seconds and usually does not exceed 2-3 seconds. Once the tuning settings are found, they are stored permanently; for stored antenna/frequency combinations, the tuning process takes less than half a second. The saved settings can also be exported to a computer and played back later. Up to 1000 memory locations are available. If the PA and transceiver are connected via CAT interface (and the PA can therefore always follow the operating frequency), the tuner follows the set frequency and also selects the pairing and connection of the antenna without having to transmit. This CAT connection is optional, it is not necessary for fully automatic operation.

The tuner offers various protection circuits and thus also protects the power amplifier. Power supply voltage, polarity, HF overvoltage, HF current, reflected power, input power, temperature and much more are checked.If the SWR is excessive, the tuner reports the error condition and the PA reduces the transmit power. At full power, mismatches of up to 3:1 can be compensated; in individual cases it is possible to use antennas with even worse couplings, up to an SWR of 10:1, but in this case operation is only possible at very low powers. During the tuning process, the 06AT tuner's input SWR never rises above 2:1; as soon as a match is found, the input SWR to the power amplifier does not exceed 1.5:1. The current operating status of the tuner is shown on the PA display, so you always have full control of the entire antenna system, including the power amplifier.
