The RPA-2 is a low noise modular reception preamplifier for medium and short waves. This preamplifier helps to hear even the weakest signals without unnecessarily increasing noise. It is used for any type of reception antenna, whether they are long wire antennas, drinks, loops, broadband dipolies and many others. {

The RPA-2 amplifies the received signal of about 16 dB, in the frequency range from 300 kHz to 35 MHz. A special design of "Push/pull" amplifier is used, which provides a higher dynamic range and an excellent IMD3 value. At the same time a further distortion of the received signal is avoided.
An additional optional form can be installed in the RPA-2 reception preamplifier. Two modules are available: the Receiver Guard 5000HD module, which protects the entry from overvoltage, and a transformer and a impedance converter from 75 to 50 ohm. {
The receiver guard module is useful when transmitting from the same position to a short distance. In this way the receiver's entry is protected against overvoltage, even in the case of nearby thunderstorms.The transformer module from 75 to 50 ohm allows the use of low-cost and low attenuation cables from 75 ohm for the receiver antennas, which are often installed at large distances.
the preamplifier RPA-2 works from 12 to 18 V DC. Here you should choose a quality supply voltage that is the cleanest possible, preferably from a linear regulated diet. The usual commutation economic power supplies quickly cancel many of the advantages of the preamplifier, such as its low noise. The supply voltage is supplied either by means of a separate connector (included in the supply) or via the coaxial cable. BNC and F connectors are deliberately chosen to avoid confusion with the transmission signals (usually on PL or N connectors). The RPA-2 is provided in a solid metal housing with screw tabs. An comparable preamplifier is available as a graft module for the NCC-2.
