The ACOM 2000A HF automatic linear amplifier is the most advanced HF amplifier, designed for amateur radio use, in the world. The ACOM 2000A is the first amateur HF amplifier to include both fully automatic tuning and sophisticated digital control capabilities. This revolutionary new amplifier offers 2KW PEP power in all modes and works on all HF bands.
A new standard in HF amplifier features and performance
ACOM 2000A represents a major advance in the state of the art of HF amplifier design. The ACOM 2000A forever changes the way amateur radio operators use HF power amplifiers in their stations.
Automatic tuning makes band changes quick and instant.
An internal tuner allows the amplifier to accept high VSWR antenna mismatches (up to 3:1), often eliminating the cost and complexity of a high-power external antenna tuner.
The RS-232 digital control port allows full integration with any remote and automatic station configuration.
Advanced protection circuits ensure the safety of the amplifier in every possible operating condition.
Remote diagnostic functions and modular design facilitate fault isolation and repair.
Cutting-edge technology enhances classic design
The classic high-frequency amplifier design was followed in the design of the ACOM 2000A, using two newly constructed ACOM GU74B high-performance ceramic tetrodes operating grid-driven.
This configuration was chosen for its inherent stability and extremely low spurious emission generation. ACOM has paired this proven configuration with the most advanced digital control technology to create an amplifier with exceptional performance, features and reliability.
Clean signal
Grid driven tetrodes, negative feedback to the cathode and excellent loading seen by the transceiver with input VSWR typically less than 1.2:1.
Regulated S/G voltage produces extremely low distortion output. Typical IMDs measured are -40 dB (3rd order) and -45 dB (5th order). The classic Pi-L network, air coils (no ferrite) and carefully designed layout of the output filter, offer typical harmonic emissions below -55 dBc (2nd order) and below -70 dBc (3rd order and above). So the probability of QRM, BCI or TVI is drastically minimized.
Fully automatic tuning
The automatic tuning functions in the ACOM 2000A represent a true breakthrough in high-frequency amplifier design. No ATU will be needed for VSWR up to 3:1 (2:1 on 160 m). The matching of the effective antenna impedances to the optimal load of the power tubes is completely automatic. The tuning time is typically close to one second and no skill is required. By completely eliminating time-consuming setup procedures, the ACOM 2000A gives contesters a real advantage. Now you can change bands without a moment's hesitation. You can machine any multiplier you find using point-and-shoot software, regardless of band, safe in the knowledge that the amplifier will always be tuned correctly and operate safely.
The amplifier automatically follows the band and frequency of the transceiver in less than a second. No special cables are required. Simply transmit a dot on CW or "Ah" on SSB.
The ACOM 2000A divides each amateur band into multiple frequency segments. The user can store up to ten tuning adjustments for each frequency segment, allowing individual settings for multiple antennas on each band. The standing wave ratio can increase considerably when an antenna is operated far from its resonant frequency. Unlike other amplifiers currently on the market, the ACOM 2000A's output tuning sequence allows the amplifier to operate at full power, even with VSWR up to 3:1 (2:1 on 160m).
Advanced digital control
Microprocessor control improves performance and enables a wide range of new advanced features.
QSK
For full break-in (QSK) a vacuum relay was used. The transmission/reception switching sequence is guaranteed by a dedicated microprocessor.
Remote control unit
RCU dimensions: 167 x 130 x 25mm
Only the remote control unit needs to be placed close to the operator while the main unit can be installed up to 3 meters away. The features of the RCU include: amplifier status displayed on the LCD display, control of all functions, measurement and/or monitoring of the 20 most important parameters, on-board technical assistance, suggestions for troubleshooting, recording of working hours, possible password provided.
Easy maintenance
The protection system prevents serious damage to the amplifier and provides information on the 12 most recent protection interventions which are stored in an INFO BOX for remote diagnostics via telephone line, PC and Internet.
RS232 and network use
All functions are accessible from a PC via the RS232 serial port. The local network may include more than one operating amplifier/antenna in a system.
