ICOM IC 905 QRP Portable SDR is a development of the recent SHF project of ICOM "Super High Frequency Band Challenge" (ShF-P1), recently launched at Tokyo Hamfair 2022.

IC-905 is the first VHF/UHF/SHF multibanda transceiver with cover 144/430/1200/2400/5600 MHz and 10 GHz (the latter band with optional CX-10G transverter) and Multiutodo SSB, CW, RTTY, AM, FM included ATV (AMATEUR TV) in Analyogy FM mode and D-Star mode "Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio" (DV/DD modes). The DD mode allows data transmission up to the speed of 128 Kbps, with the possibility of acting also from the D-Star access point and work in terminal mode. {

from the innovative project, this new ICOM radio has a controller with the same Form Factor of the IC-705 and an RF module for outdoor installation. This design choice minimizes the length of the coaxial line of TX/RX, then minimizes RF losses to have maximum yield. With the adoption of Poe technology (Power Over Ethernet) the connection takes place with a single LAN cable, providing greater installation flexibility and the possibility to feed the RF module at a distance, which can be positioned in the immediate vicinity of the antennas. The adoption of a high precision clock signal (1pps) obtained from an antenna GNSS allows you to compensate for the frequency of the OCXO. {

The RF power on the bands 144/430/1200 MHz is 10W, on the bands 2400/5400 MHz is 2W, while at 10 GHz it is 0.5w. {

There are many accessories and functions in common with the IC-705 such as the SD Card slot for storing radio parameters, voice memories, frequencies, photos, and audio recording of the QSO etc. {

The 4.3 ″ color touch screen display allows you to carry out quick and intuitive operations with oscilloscope and a high -performance spectrum analyzer with Waterfall function that allows you to view the intensity variation of a signal over time and to detect even the weakest signals to have a detailed panoramic of the band in which you are operating. {
